International Relief and Development is a U.S. not-for-profit
organization dedicated to improving the
quality of people in the most economically
deprived parts of the world. IRD is implementing relief and development
Program in Afghanistan, Iraq, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Serbia,
Montenegro, Chad, Cameroon, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Cambodia.
IRD's Better Foods For Better Lives Program in
Cambodia is funded by the United States Department
of Agriculture(USDA) and the major objectives
are:
- Promote economic development and generate employment by using
idle food processing capacity within
local Fluor mills, noodle factories
and bakeries.
- Improve health and nutrition among primary school children and
low income households by productcing
and distributing micronutrients-fortified
and soy-enriched foods.
- Increase school attendance rate and improve educational performance,
paticularly grils in primary schools,
by distributing fortified snack noodles
and bread.
